Specific entry requirements
GCSE: GCSE Mathematics (grade 4 or above), English (grade 4 or above). or equivalent qualifications.
Our standard entry requirement is three A-levels or equivalent qualifications. In some cases, courses have specific required subjects and additional GCSE requirements. In addition to A-levels, we accept a wide range of other qualifications including:
 the Welsh Baccalaureate
 the Access to Higher Education Diploma
 a BTEC National Certificate, Diploma or Extended Diploma at a good standard and in a relevant subject
 the International Baccalaureate Diploma
 the European Baccalaureate Diploma
 Scottish qualifications – five subjects in SCE with two at Higher level or one at Advanced Higher level, or three subjects in Scottish Highers or two at Advanced Higher level
 a recognised foundation course
 T-levels*.
 * T-levels are a relatively new qualification but are already included in the UCAS tariff. We welcome prospective students who are taking this qualification to apply. For some programmes with specific required subjects, particular subject areas or occupational specialisms may be required.
English language requirements
If English is not your first language then you will need to show that your English language skills are at a high enough level to succeed in your studies.
The entry requirement for your course will be expressed as an IELTS level and refers to the IELTS Academic version of this test. We are now also accepting the IELTS Indicator test, you can find out more about the test on the IELTS Indication site. The University however does accept a wide range of additional English language qualifications, which can be found below.
The university’s English language requirements in IELTS levels are as follows:

Learning and assessment
Year 1 provides an insight into essential areas of business and marketing management.
Year 2 and the final year covers the core elements of marketing management, business strategy and finance. You can choose from a range of optional modules. And you have the option to include a 'specialism' focusing on a particular area of marketing.
Marketing Communications specialism
You'll learn how to plan, implement and evaluate promotional tools. This includes advertising, PR and digital media.
This will prepare you for a career in marketing communications, in a marketing services agency or a marketing department.
Our teaching staff have links with leading agencies who provide speakers and live projects.
You can also opt to take the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing Certificate in Direct and Digital Marketing.
Retail specialism
You'll learn to create and deliver a successful service experience within an international retail context, from producer to end consumer.
This specialism will prepare you for a career in the retail sector or in organisations supplying goods and services.
Start this course in January
You have the option to start this course in January. In each of your three years, you will study your first semester between January and May and your second semester between September and December. There will be no teaching during June, July and August.
Learning and teaching
Your learning experience will be exciting and challenging. You will develop the necessary skills to take on the demands of graduate jobs in leading international businesses.
Teaching methods and activities include:
 lectures
 seminars
 Workshops
 Simulations
 group projects
 presentations
 role plays
 analysis of numerical data
 discussions of topical material
 computer-based simulations.
You will be immersed in an employer focused course, working on real-world marketing projects in our new Marketing and Social Media Lab that is equipped with the latest industry-standard tools and software, such as google analytics and Adobe Creative Cloud.
Our teaching staff are leading academics who are renowned experts, researchers and consultants in the field of business and marketing management. You will have close contact with your academic adviser throughout the course.
Assessment
Assessment methods include:
 written exams
 practical exams
 coursework.
The majority of teaching and assessment activities take place between Mondays and Fridays, 9am to 7pm. There may be occasions when such activities may fall outside of these hours.
Study abroad
You may be able to go on a European or international study exchange while you are at Brookes. Most exchanges take place in the second year. Although we will help as much as we can with your plans, ultimately you are responsible for organising and funding this study abroad.
