Our courses are delivered through our virtual learning environment (VLE) and via face-to-face sessions on campus.

You will have access to your study materials 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including:

• interactive lectures made up of written content, short videos, audio recordings, short tests, quizzes and mini-assignments
• discussion groups on Microsoft Teams for you to chat about the course content with fellow students
• live tutorials, workshops and Q&A sessions with your lecturers
• practical tasks including advocacy in a mock court setting; interviewing and advising and legal writing
• a comprehensive Library of textbooks, access to Westlaw and academic journals; and support from experienced academic staff and practising lawyers.

Overview

The course is taught at Level 4 and is designed to introduce students to the key concepts of the legal system(s) of England and Wales.

You will be introduced to the criminal justice system as well as civil law.

Law is a highly respected and demanding subject. This course provides an exciting insight into how the legal system shapes us as individuals and as a society.

Year One – Level 4 (CertHE)

• Criminal Law (20 credits; compulsory)
• Criminal Litigation (20 credits; compulsory)
• Learning in the Digital Era (20 credits; compulsory; Graduate Attributes Framework module)
• Legal Process (20 credits; compulsory)
• Principles of Professional Legal Practice (20 credits; compulsory)
• Public Law (20 credits; compulsory).

Entry Criteria

We believe that education should be accessible for everyone. You don’t need any prior academic qualifications or work experience in order to start studying with us.

You will be required to attend an interview and sit a timed written task prior to admission.

You will need to meet our English language requirements.

You will be assessed via a mixture of course work assignments, portfolios and examinations.
