Overview

This single honours programme will allow you to explore and engage with a wide range of issues relevant to developing an inclusive practice and supporting learners with additional learning needs to enable and facilitate their educational development.

At the core of this programme are the foundation subject areas of Education Studies which include psychology, sociology, history and philosophy. The study of these subjects will provide you with a detailed understanding of key educational issues that are relevant to a wide range of potential careers and postgraduate study options.

The specific modules relevant to Additional Learning Needs and Inclusion will provide you with further detailed insight into key areas relevant to supporting students with additional needs. It will provide you with both the theoretical understanding and the practical knowledge and skills to enable you to apply your studies to a wide range of potential careers such as teaching and educational support.

Year Two – Level 5 (Dip HE & BA)

Year Three – Level 6 (BA)

Entry Criteria

Typical offers are made for 88 UCAS tariff points. The Education Studies programme and associated pathway programmes are intended for A level school leavers as well as those who have left education and now wish to return.

We also place great emphasis on supporting and encouraging non-standard entry students onto our programme. We actively welcome applications from those who have relevant life skills and experience as well as the academic potential to succeed on the programme. During the first year of the course, we tailor our modules and assessments to actively support you in your integration into higher education study and work closely with Student Services to provide you with all the help you need to make the most of your studies.
